8. Sports Rules

Bets are accepted for all major sporting and special events and will be settled in accordance with the special rules issued for such events. For any eventuality not covered by the special rules, the general terms of our rules will apply.

AFL (Aussie Rules)

  1. All markets are based on the result at the end of play or 'Full Time'. The term 'Full Time' is used to denote the period of play which includes injury time or 'Time On'. If a match finishes in a Draw then bets on either team to win the match will be void.
  2. Postponed or Abandoned Matches: If a match is un-played, postponed or abandoned before the completion of Full Time, all bets will be void. This ruling applies to all markets with the exception of bets on any market where all outcomes have already been determined at the time of abandonment.
  3. Rearranged Matches: In the event of a change of venue all selections on that match will be void. If a new venue is displayed on our website then bets taken after this will stand providing the match is actually played at that venue.
  4. Handicap Betting. For the purpose of deciding results the stated handicap is added to the total points scored by the team receiving the handicap start.
  5. Half Time Betting: Half time betting is based on the 1st Half of play, including any Time On. In the event of a match being abandoned during the 1st half, our rules in AFL point 2 will apply.
  6. First Goalscorer: Bets on players not taking part in the match will be void as will bets on the first goalscorer where the selection comes on after the first goal is scored. Players that are substituted or sent off before the first goal are losers. If the first goal was scored by a player not quoted then all bets are losers that were placed on any other named player subject to the previous rules, unless an "any unquoted" selection is offered. If the match is abandoned before a goal is scored all First Goalscorer bets will be void.
  7. Top8/Top4 Betting. In Top8/Top4 Betting, the finishing position of teams at the end of the scheduled programme of matches will determine placing with no allowances for play-offs, subsequent enquiries or point deductions by the respective leagues.
  8. Winning Margins: Winning margin betting is from scratch.

American Football

  1. Match result: Overtime counts on all bets. If a regular NFL season match is a tie after overtime then all bets placed on this market will be void.
  2. Overtime counts on all markets except Double Result (half time/full time), Winning margin and those specific to the Fourth quarter.
  3. If a match is abandoned after play has started all bets are void, unless at least 55 minutes have been played on the game clock, with the exception of bets on markets which had already been determined at the time of abandonment.
  4. Total points. The total number of points of the two teams is combined, including overtime if played.
  5. Handicap prices (Point Spread). For the purpose of deciding results the stated handicap is added to the total points scored by the team receiving the handicap start, including overtime. If the result after taking the handicap into account is a draw, bets on both selections will be void.
  6. Double Result: Bets on this market are based on the result at Half Time and Full Time. Overtime does not count.
  7. Quarter Prices. Bets are accepted on the winner, handicap or total points of the relevant quarter. This bet does not refer to who is leading the match at the end of the relevant quarter. Overtime does not count. At least 15 minutes of play must have elapsed in each quarter for bets to stand.
  8. First/Last Touchdown scorer: A player must play in the game for more than one second for bets on them to stand.

  3. All bets will be void on events / meets that are postponed, abandoned or moved to a different venue.

  3. If a match is abandoned for any reason and unless it recommences within 48 hours, then all bets will stand.
  4. All MLB baseball betting is offered on the basis that both the listed pitchers at the time a bet was struck start the game. Both named pitchers must start and throw at least one pitch for bets to stand. Should either listed pitcher fail to start the game for any reason, all bets on that game will be void.
  5. All bets on baseball are based on the official score, including all additional innings.
  6. All bets stand providing there have been at least 5 full innings played or 4 1/2 innings if the home team is leading at the time. If a match is abandoned before and unless it recommences within 48 hours then all bets will be void unless a specific market result has already been determined, in which case all bets placed on those markets will stand.
  7. 5 Innings wagering: All bets will be settled on the result after 5 innings of the game have been completed. If the full 5 innings of a game are not completed and unless the game recommences within 48 hours then all bets will be void, unless a specific market result has already been determined, in which case all bets on those markets will stand.

Basketball

  1. Match Result. 3-way markets (Home, Draw, Away) are based on the result at the end of Regular time only.
  2. Match Result. 2-way markets (Home, Away) are based on the result at the end of Regular time plus overtime, if played.
  3. If a match is abandoned after play has started all bets are void, unless there have been at least 35 minutes of play for the FIBA Rules Competitions, WNBA and NCAA matches and 40 minutes for the NBA, in which case bets will stand. If a winning market result had already been determined at the time of abandonment all bets on those markets will stand.
  4. All bets will be void on matches that are postponed and/or rescheduled for any reason for more than 30 hours after the original start time.
  5. Handicap prices. For the purpose of deciding results the stated handicap is added to the total points scored by the team receiving the handicap start, including overtime if played.
  6. Total points. The total number of points of the two teams is combined, including overtime if played.
  7. Half Time prices. Bets must predict the result of any market based on the score at half time.

Bowls

  1. Outright betting: All in play or not.
  2. Set and Match Betting: The full number of sets required to win the match must be achieved. If circumstances, for whatever reason, prevail so the match is awarded to a contestant before this is achieved, the set betting on that match will be void unless further play could not affect the result.
  3. In the event of a match being awarded to a player before the full number of sets is played, the match bets will stand on the official winner, so long as at least one end has been completed.

Boxing

  1. Should there be a withdrawal or a substitution for one of the boxers concerned, all bets on that fight will be void.
  2. A price will always be offered for the draw and in the event of that occurring bets on each boxer to win will be lost.
  3. A fight is defined as having started once the bell is sounded for the beginning of the first round.
  4. In the event of a 'no contest' being declared, or a fight being abandoned for any reason before the completion of the contest, all bets will be made void unless otherwise stated or if the result of the market has already been determined.
  5. Round by Round Betting: If for any reason a points decision is awarded before the full number of rounds are completed, or a boxer is disqualified, bets will be settled on the round in which the fight was stopped. Bets which nominate 'to win on points' will only be deemed winners if the full number of rounds are completed. If a boxer fails to answer the bell, the fight will be deemed to have ended in the previous round. If for any reason the selected number of rounds on which we are betting is changed, all round by round bets will be void.
  6. If a fight is postponed, rearranged or moved to an alternative venue bets will stand for 48 hours from the original date.
  7. Bets will be settled on the official result announced in the ring. Subsequent appeals/amendments do not affect settlement.
  8. Total rounds. For settlement purposes where a half round is stated then 1 minute 30 seconds of the respective round will define the 'half' to determine under and over markets.

Chess

  1. Outright Tournament Betting. Non-runner no-bet.
  2. If a game is delayed or postponed for any reason then all bets will stand until the end of the game or the end of the tournament.

Cricket

a) Limited Overs Matches

  1. Match Betting: In matches affected by adverse weather or abandonment, bets will be settled according to the official competition rules, including those affected by the "Duckworth-Lewis" system, unless stated otherwise in our rules.
  2. In one day knock out competitions affected by adverse weather the team progressing to the next round will be deemed the winner providing the result is determined by some play, even if the scheduled number of overs has been reduced. If insufficient play means a match is decided by a bowl out or toss of a coin, bets on that match will be void.
  3. If a completed match ends in a tie, and no price had been offered for the tie, then bets on that match will be settled as a dead-heat with the exception of knockout tournaments where a one over eliminator "super over" decides the winner. Matches decided by a bowl out or coin toss will be settled as a dead heat.
  4. Top Batsman/Bowler markets: (Excluding head to head markets) A minimum of 50% of the scheduled number of overs for that innings when the bet was taken must be played for these bets to stand, unless the innings has reached its natural conclusion or further play cannot affect the result. Where selections are from both teams, both innings must complete 50% of the scheduled number of overs when the bet was struck, unless further play could not affect the result. Dead Heat rules apply. All players in the starting eleven will count for betting purposes whether they bat/bowl or not. Bets on a player not in the starting eleven will be void. If a batsman does not complete his innings (retired hurt etc) then his score before retirement will be deemed his final total.
  5. Run and Wicket markets - Specified number of overs: For example, 1st 15 overs. The specified number of overs must be bowled for bets to stand, unless the innings has reached its natural conclusion or further play could not affect the result. Any change to fielding restrictions due to a reduction in innings overs will not affect settlement of this market.
  6. Run and Wicket markets - Within an innings or match: Unless stated otherwise, at least 90% of the full number of scheduled overs at the time the bet was struck must be bowled in order for bets on run and wicket markets to stand, except where the innings has reached its natural conclusion.
  7. Sixes/Total Run-Outs/Extras markets: Both teams must bat for at least 90% of the scheduled number of overs at the time the bet was struck for bets to stand, unless the innings has reached its natural conclusion or further play could not affect the result.

b) Test Matches / County Championship Matches

  1. Match Betting: In matches affected by adverse weather or abandonment, bets will stand on the official result provided at least 50 overs have been bowled. In the event of a tied match bets will be settled as a dead-heat and stakes on a draw will be lost. 'Please note that a tie (when the match is completed and both teams finish on equal scores, providing the team batting last has completed its innings) is a different result from a draw (when the allotted time for a match has expired and neither team has won).
  2. If a completed match ends in a tie, and no price had been offered for the tie, then bets on that match will be settled as a dead-heat, irrespective of whether a bowl out or coin toss follows.
  3. Session Markets: Session runs markets will be settled on the aggregate total of both teams (if both teams bat) during that session. The first session is the passage of play between the start of the days play and lunch. The second session is the passage of play between lunch and tea. The third session is the passage of play after tea until the close. A minimum of 20 overs must be bowled in any session for bets on that session to stand, unless further play could not affect the result.
  4. Unless otherwise stated, bets referring to batsman or bowlers markets are for the first innings only.

c) General Cricket Rules

  1. Series Betting: Bets will be settled on the official tournament result, i.e. the team to lift the trophy. If the designated number of matches in a two team series is not completed, bets on the outright market will be void unless a sufficient number of matches are played to determine a series winner. Bets on the correct series score will be void if the designated number of matches is not played.
  2. Top Series Batsman/Bowler: All in play or not. Dead-Heat rules apply.
  3. Top Batsman Match Bets: Both batsmen must face at least 1 ball each for bets to stand.
  4. Top Bowler Match Bets: Both bowlers must bowl at least 1 ball each for bets to stand.
  5. Batsman Total Runs: The specified player must face at least 1 ball for bets to stand. Should an innings be shortened due to bad weather, a declaration or the player retires hurt, his score at the end of the innings shall determine settlement of bets.
  6. Next Man Out: Bets on the next man out will be void if neither player is out, unless a price was quoted for 'neither'. If a player retires hurt bets will be made void.
  7. Highest Opening Partnership: The Opening Partnership is the score at the fall of the first wicket. Bets will stand providing both opening partnerships are completed, or the result has been determined. If a batsman retires, bets on this market will be decided on the fall of the next wicket.
  8. If any match is abandoned due to outside interference, bets will be made void.

Cycling

  1. Outright: All in compete or not, up to the start of the first stage or prologue. Any withdrawn riders in outright markets updated between stages will be made void for bets placed after the previous stage had been completed. In these circumstances Rule 4 deductions may apply. If the withdrawal of a rider leaves only one other selection priced up then all bets placed after the previously completed stage will be void.
  2. Race and Stage Match Bets: Both riders must start for bets to stand. If one rider fails to complete the stage then the other is deemed the winner. If both riders fail to complete the bets are void.
  3. In the event of a disqualification, the podium presentation will count as the 'weigh-in' and this will determine the settlement of bets.

Darts

  1. Outright Betting: All in compete or not.
  2. Match Betting: In the event of a match starting but not being completed the player progressing to the next round will be deemed the winner. However set, leg, handicap and special betting will be void unless the outcome of a particular market has already been established.

Floorball

  1. Unless otherwise stated all bets are settled on 60 minutes play. Extra time does not count.
  2. Postponed / Abandoned Matches: All bets will be void on matches that are postponed, abandoned, rearranged or moved to a different venue.

Football

  1. All markets are based on the result at the end of 90 minutes play (normal time). The terms 'full time', '90 minutes play' and 'normal time' are all used to denote the period of play which includes injury time but not extra time or penalty shootouts.
  2. Matches played at neutral venue will be marked as such. If a match is played at a neutral venue and this information is not displayed then all bets will stand unless the venue of the home and away team is reversed. Should this occur then all bets on that match will be made void.
  3. If a rearranged, postponed or abandoned match is played within 48 hours of the original start time all bets will stand. If a match is abandoned bets for markets on which all outcomes have already been determined will stand. For example, 'First Player to Score' or 'Time of First Goal' provided the first goal had been scored at the time of abandonment, or any other applicable market.
  4. Bets on the Correct Score market are settled on the final score at the end of normal time. If prices for the final score were not quoted on the original list then all bets on other scores will be losers, unless an "any unquoted selection" was offered.
  5. If a team plays a different opponent to the one which the odds applied to when a bet was struck, all bets on that match will be void.
  6. Bets on related events are not accepted. Our related contingency rules in Help - Betting Rules (Section 7) will apply should such bets be taken in error.
  7. Handicap Betting: For the purpose of deciding results the stated handicap is added to the total goals scored by the team receiving the handicap start. If the handicap is a whole number then a price for a 'handicap draw' may be offered, and in that eventuality the 'handicap draw' will be the winner and bets on either team will be losers. If no 'handicap draw' price is offered, and the result after taking the handicap into account is a draw, bets on both teams will be void.
  8. Double Asian handicaps and totals are bets where the stake is split into 2 equal parts. One part of the bet is on the whole number and the other part on the non-whole number. A single price is offered for this bet. For example, if an Asian Handicap was offered as (-1, -1.5) and €100 was staked on this, €50 would be placed at -1 and €50 at -1.5. Similarly, if an Asian Total Goal was offered as (over 3, 3.5) and €100 was staked, €50 would be placed at over 3 and €50 at over 3.5. Click here for further details.
  9. Half Betting: Half betting is based on the first or last 45 minutes of play, including injury time. In the event of a match being abandoned, our rules in point 3 will apply. Matches abandoned after half time will not affect settlement of first half bets.
  10. First Goalscorer: Bets are accepted on normal time play only. Own goals do not count. If the First goal is an own goal then bets on the first goalscorer will count on the next goal. If in the match the only goals are "Own Goals" then the winning selection will be "No Goalscorer". Bets on players that have been substituted or sent off before the first goal has been scored are losers. If a player has not entered the field of play before the first goal is scored then all bets on this player will be void. If the first goal was scored by a player not quoted then all bets on other players, subject to the conditions above, are losers. If an "any unquoted" selection is offered, bets on that selection will cover all players not quoted.
  11. Last Goalscorer: Bets are accepted on normal time play only. Own goals do not count. If the last goal is an own goal then bets on the last goalscorer will count for the previous goal. If in the match the only goals are "Own Goals" then the winning selection will be "No Goalscorer". All players that take part in the match will be considered runners for last goalscorer purposes whether on the pitch at the time of the last goal or not. If a player has not entered the field of play during the match all bets on this player will be void. If the last goal was scored by a player not quoted then all bets on other players, subject to the conditions above, are losers. If an "any unquoted" selection is offered, bets on that selection will cover all players not quoted.
  12. Anytime Goalscorer: Bets are accepted on normal time play only. Own goals do not count. If a player does not enter the field of play during the match all bets on this player will be void.
  13. Scorecasts: To win you must predict both the player that will score the first goal in the match and also the correct score at the end of normal time. The score 0-0 and No Goalscorer is settled as a correct score single. If your selected player joins the match after the first goal has been scored or does not take part in the game then Scorecast bets will revert to a single on the correct score. Own goals do not count. If the correct score is 1-0 and the goal was an own goal then Scorecast bets will be settled as a correct score single. If the match is abandoned after a goal has been scored then all bets will be settled as First Goalscorer singles at the appropriate odds.
  14. Next Goalscorer (Player): Bets predicting the next goalscorer will be available on selected matches whilst they are in progress. Bets will be void if the selection does not participate or comes on after the 'next' goal has been scored. Bets will be void if the match is abandoned before a goal (next goal) is scored, subject to section 3, Football.
  15. Next Team to Score: Bets predicting the next team to score will be available on selected matches whilst they are in progress. Own goals count to the side credited with the goal. If no further goals are scored then "No Next Goal" bets will be settled as the winning market.
  16. Time of First Goal: If a match is abandoned after the first goal is scored all bets stand. If a match is abandoned before the first goal is scored, all bets placed on the first goal being scored in the period of time (1-30 minutes etc.), up to but not including the time of abandonment are lost. For example, match abandoned after 36 minutes - losing bets are those placed on 1-30 minutes. For settling purposes, if a goal is timed as 23:00 then this counts as being scored as the 23rd minute or before. A goal timed at 23:01 would count as being scored in the 24th minute. In the event of a dispute over the time of the first goal, settlement will be based on the time listed by the Press Association.
  17. Penalty Kick: Bets on this market are settled on normal time play only. Extra Time and Penalty Shootouts do not count.
  18. Cards: Bets on Yellow and Red cards are based on normal time play only. Cards shown during the half time interval or after the final whistle has blown will not count. Cards shown to non-players (e.g. Managers, coaching staff, a player after he has been substituted or substitutes who have not yet been used) do not count. Second yellow cards awarded to the same player counts only as a Red. (e.g.. in a Total Bookings market a second yellow card issued to the same player will not count). If the first cards shown involve two or more players from different teams being booked/sent off following the same incident than bets on the market “First Yellow/Red Card” will be void.
  19. Corner Betting: Corners awarded but not taken will not count for settling purposes (e.g.. A corner awarded but not taken before the final whistle will not count). If a referee orders a corner to be retaken this will only count once.
  20. Manager Betting: We will offer prices occasionally on a teams next manager, next manager to be sacked etc. If it comes to light that bets may have been placed after the decision has been made then we reserve the right to void these bets. Manager markets will always be on an 'others on request' basis.
  21. Season Divisional Betting: In divisional betting, the finishing position of teams at the end of the scheduled programme of matches will determine placings, with no allowances for play-offs or subsequent enquiries which lead to a team having points deducted.
  22. Season Divisional Handicap Betting: Placing will be determined by the final points total of each team at the end of the scheduled programme of matches added to their handicap start. Placings will not be affected by play-offs or subsequent enquiries which lead to a team having points deducted. If two or more teams finish on the same points total after their respective handicaps have been added then Dead Heat rules (Section 7) will apply. Goal difference will not count.

Futsal

  1. Unless otherwise stated all bets are settled on 40 minutes play. Extra time does not count.
  2. All bets will be void on matches that are postponed, abandoned, rearranged or moved to a different venue.

Golf

  1. General Rules: In tournaments affected by adverse weather, bets will be settled on the final placings providing a minimum of 36 holes have been played, unless the tournament is played on more than one course. In that instance all players must have completed their rounds at each of the tournament courses for bets to stand. In the event of the number of scheduled rounds not being completed all bets accepted after the last completed round shall be void and stakes refunded, unless a play-off determines the winner. In such cases only bets specifically taken for the play-off will stand.
  2. A player is deemed to have played once they have teed off. In the event of a player withdrawing after having teed off, stakes will be lost.
  3. Outright Betting: Non-starter no bet. Play-offs will determine the tournament winner. Dead heat rules will apply for placings.
  4. Tournament Match Betting: The winner will be the player achieving the highest placing at the end of the tournament. If one player misses the cut, the other is deemed the winner. Where both players miss the cut the lowest score after the cut has been made will determine settlement. If one player is disqualified, either prior to the completion of two rounds or after both players have made the cut, the other player is deemed the winner. If a player is disqualified during either the 3rd or 4th rounds, when his opponent has already missed the cut, the disqualified player is deemed the winner. If a price for the tie is not offered a match involving players achieving the same placing will be void.
  5. Handicap Match Betting: One player will be given a handicap start against another which will be added their final score. If any player misses the cut, withdraws or is disqualified, they will be deemed losers. If both players miss the cut, the handicap applies to their score at the time. The match is void if both players withdraw or are disqualified or one player does not start the tournament. If the scheduled number of rounds are not played handicap bets will be void unless the outcome of the match has already been determined.
  6. Group Betting/Top U.K Players etc: The winner will be the player achieving the highest placing at the end of the tournament. Any player missing the cut will be considered a loser. If all players miss the cut, the lowest score after the cut has been made will determine settlement. Players are grouped together for betting purposes only. Non-starter no bet, rule 4 may apply. Dead heat rules apply except where the winner is determined by a play-off.
  7. Handicap Group Betting: A list of players will be allocated handicaps. Their final scores are adjusted by their handicap to determine the winner. Any players missing the cut will be losers unless insufficient players make the cut for the defined number of places. In such cases these scores with their handicaps? will be taken into account to determine placings behind those players who made the cut.
  8. 18 Hole Betting: The winner will be the player with the lowest score over 18 holes. In the event of a 2 or 3 ball being re-arranged or being displayed differently by us, all bets will stand on the groupings displayed when the bet was placed. If any players do not start then that 2 or 3 ball will be void. In 2 ball betting if a price for the tie is not offered and the players achieve the same score, bets on that match will be void. Dead heat rules will apply to 3 ball betting. When special bets are offered grouping more than 3 players over one round dead heat rules will apply. Non-starter no bet, Tattersall’s rule 4 may apply.
  9. To Make/Miss the Cut: If a player withdraws or is disqualified before the cut is made then they will be deemed a loser. Any player making the cut, and then withdraws or is disqualified, will be deemed a winner. The bet is void if the player takes no part in the tournament.

Greyhounds

  1. There are various price types associated with Greyhound Racing.

EP (Early Price) Early prices are those offered before the 1st official show from the Greyhound track.

BP (Board Price) Board prices are the latest odds from the Greyhound track where the race is being staged and are compiled by officials taking an average of the prices offered at that time by on-course bookmakers.

SP (Starting Price) Starting prices are the final odds returned from the Greyhound track, which are compiled by officials taking an average of the final price offered by on-course bookmakers at the start of a race.

AP (Ante-Post Price) See section 7.5 for details on Ante-Post betting.
  2. We accept bets for 1st favourites only. Unnamed 2nd or 3rd favourites are not accepted for greyhound racing.
  3. Any bets placed on a greyhound at an early or board price will be deemed to be on the named greyhound, even if that greyhound is defined as a Trap Number. Should there be a non runner, then all bets placed at an early or board price up to the time the greyhound is withdrawn will be settled at SP. Once the market has been reformed further bets will be accepted and stand at the new odds or starting price, providing there are no further non runners.
  4. If a bet is placed on a named greyhound or trap number at an early or board price and that greyhound is a non runner, bets on that selection will be void irrespective of whether or not a reserve runs.
  5. If a bet is placed on a Trap Number at SP, then bets stand on that trap number even if the original greyhound is a non runner and a reserve runs in its place. Where possible, we will endeavour to show when a reserve greyhound is running. All bets placed on a named greyhound which does not run (except Ante-Post bets) will be treated as non runners.
  6. Ante Post: See Betting Rules section 7.5 for rules concerning Ante-Post betting.
  7. Trap Challenge: Prices are offered for each trap to win the most races at one selected meeting or alternatively at two or more selected greyhound meetings combined. If 3 or more races in a Trap Challenge are not run for any reason (void race, meeting abandoned etc) then that Trap Challenge will be void, unless the winner has already been determined at that stage. The Trap Challenge is unaffected by reserves or vacant traps. If a race finishes as a dead heat each trap will receive a 'half-win' (3 way dead heat 'one third-win' etc.). If two or more traps record the same number of wins, dead heat rules apply.
  8. Re-Run Races: Where a race has been declared void and is re-run, all bets will stand for the greyhounds that take part in the re-run. Prices returned on the re-run will govern the settlement. 'Show Prices' laid on void races will not be valid for a re-run race and such bets will be settled at the returned Starting Price. A re-run greyhound race is taken in the order which it was originally placed in the programme, irrespective of the time at which it was re-run.
  9. Where a race has been declared void and is not re-run, all bets for that race will be made void. In multiple bets any selection in a void race will be counted as a non runner.
  10. Winning Distances: Distance markets may be available at certain meetings. The maximum make up per race is 10 lengths. If any race is not run or declared void and not re-run then all bets will be void, unless the winner of the market has already been determined.

Handball

  1. All bets on Handball are based on the score at the end of 60 minutes play (regulation time), except money line bets which are based on the score including extra time and 7 metre throws.
  2. If any match is postponed and rescheduled for any reason for more than 48 hours after the original start time, then all bets will be void, unless a specific market result is already determined.

Horse Racing

  1. There are various price types associated with Horse Racing.

EP (Early Price) Early prices for each horse are those offered 24 or 48 hours before the day of the race, depending on the race type.

BP (Board Price) Board prices are the latest odds on the day of the race, from the racecourse where the race is being staged and are compiled as an average of the prices of the racecourse bookmakers.

SP (Starting Price) Starting prices are the final odds from the racecourse, at the actual start of the race and are compiled as an average of the prices of the racecourse bookmakers.

AP (Ante-Post Price) See section 7.5 for details on Ante-Post betting.
  2. Where a named selection is doubly engaged the bet will stand for the race which was selected at the time the bet was placed.
  3. The place stake of a bet may be restricted on certain types of races. In these circumstances the bet available will be displayed clearly before acceptance is confirmed.
  4. Withdrawals and Non Runners: Where a horse is withdrawn before coming under starter's orders, or is officially deemed by the starter to have taken no part in the race, stakes will be returned on the withdrawn horse and winning bets will be subject to deductions in accordance with Tattersall's' Rule 4(c). The rate of deduction will be announced by SIS or alternative supplier based on the following scale.
Price of non-runner at time of withdrawal Amount deducted from winnings
    1/9 or shorter 90c in the €1
    2/11 to 2/17 85c in the €1
    1/4 to 1/5 80c in the €1
    3/10 to 2/7 75c in the €1
    2/5 to 1/3 70c in the €1
    8/15 to 4/9 65c in the €1
    8/13 to 4/7 60c in the €1
    4/5 to 4/6 55c in the €1
    20/21 to 5/6 50c in the €1
    Evs to 6/5 45c in the €1
    5/4 to 6/4 40c in the €1
    13/8 to 7/4 35c in the €1
    15/8 to 9/4 30c in the €1
    5/2 to 3/1 25c in the €1
    10/3 to 4/1 20c in the €1
    9/2 to 11/2 15c in the €1
    6/1 to 9/1 10c in the €1
    10/1 to 14/1 5c in the €1
    Over 14/1 No Deduction
  5. In the event of two or more horses being withdrawn before coming under starter's orders, the total deductions shall not exceed 90p in the €. Should a horse be withdrawn and a new market formed, then any bets laid at 'show' prices prior to the new show will be subject to the above deductions. In the event of a further withdrawal after the market has been reformed, bets placed at 'show' prices in the original market will be subject to a further deduction based on the price of the withdrawn horse in the original market. Bets placed in the new market will be subject to a deduction based on the current price.
  6. The above scale will also apply to non runners in early price races and also to any other event where Tattersall's' Rule 4 (c) deductions apply. The deduction in such cases will be determined by the price of the withdrawn selection at the time the market was reformed, or the last price if the market was not subsequently reformed. In the event that there is insufficient time to form a new market on a race SP bets may also be subject to a 'Rule 4' deduction based on the above table.
  7. Re-Runs: In the event of a false start etc. resulting in a race being re-run, stakes will be refunded on horses taking no part in the re-run, with returns on remaining runners subject to Tattersall's' Rule 4 (c). Place Terms are governed by the number of runners taking part in the re-run.
  8. If a race is declared void, or only 1 runner is left prior to the start, then all selections in these races will be treated as a non-runner for settling purposes.
  9. Double Result betting (i.e. Settlement on either First Past The Post or official result) may be offered as a concession on occasions, namely where we pay both on the official result and a disqualified winner. If we are offering this concession it will be shown in the 'Special Offers' section in the Help section and the following conditions will apply: A double result will not be paid if a selection takes the wrong course, carries the wrong weight, the jockey fails to weigh in, the judge calls the wrong result, a void race or any ante-post bet. The offer will only apply to Win Singles (or the win part of each way singles) on Horse Racing in the UK and Ireland. There will be a maximum stake this concession will apply to which will be displayed in the Special Offers section in the Help section.
  10. Favourite Points Market: Scoring System: 25 Points for a win, 10 points for a second, and 5 points for a third. Where there are joint or co-favourites the one with the lowest race card number will be taken. If no SP is returned, the favourite will be the first priced runner quoted in the Racing Post betting forecast. If the favourite is withdrawn then 10 points are awarded for that race. All bets will be settled on the official result after the weigh-in. In the event of a walkover the favourite will make up at 10 points. If the meeting is not completed bets will stand provided the winning market has already been established. In the event of a dead-heat the points will be divided. A favourite that dead heats for first place will be awarded 17.5 points.
  11. Aggregate Distances Market: The maximum distance per race is 12 lengths for flat races, 30 lengths for national hunt races (incl. national hunt flat races) Official winning distances are calculated as follows:
    Dead Heat: 0
    Nose: 0.05
    Short Head: 0.1
    Head: 0.2
    Neck: 0.3
    1/2 length: 0.5
    3/4 length: 0.75
    1 length: 1.0
  12. In the event of a horse finishing alone the maximum make-up will apply. In the event of a walkover, 2 lengths will be awarded for a flat race and 6 lengths will be awarded for a national hunt race. The distance will be based on the official result after weigh-in. Any runner taking the wrong course or carrying an incorrect weight will be ignored when the winning distance is calculated. If the meeting is not completed bets will stand providing the winning selection has already been established.
  13. Match Betting: Where betting is offered on which horse will finish in front of another, at least one of the two selections must complete the course for bets to stand. Should neither selection complete the course bets will be void. In the case of a non-runner or both runners dead heating bets on that match will be made void.
  14. Win / Not to Win bets: On certain races a 'not to win' price may be offered. Depending on a selections price to win the race the 'not to win' option may not be available on that selection. If there are any non-runners then Tattersall's Rule 4 may apply (see section 4, Horse Racing) by reducing the 'win' odds and lengthening the 'not to win' odds proportionally. Double Result (see section 9, Horse Racing) and Best Odds Guaranteed do not apply to 'not to win' bets. Combined 'not to win' bets with selections from the same race are not permitted. Should a race be reduced to two runners then all 'not to win' bets on that race will be void. Dead-heat rules apply as normal to 'not to win' bets.
  15. Placed / Not to Be Placed: On certain races a 'to be placed' or 'not to be placed' price may be offered. Depending on a selections price to be placed the 'not to be placed' option may not be available on that selection. If there are any non-runners the number of places paid will remain the same, unless the final number of runners is less or equals the number of places paid. In such cases all bets will be void. In the case of non-runners Tattersall's Rule 4 may apply (see section 4, Horse Racing) by reducing the 'to be placed' odds and lengthening the 'not to be placed odds' proportionally. Double Result (see section 9, Horse Racing) and Best Odds Guaranteed do not apply to 'to be placed' or 'not to be placed' bets. Combined 'to be placed' or 'not to be placed' bets with selections from the same race are not permitted. Dead-heat rules apply as normal to 'to be placed' or 'not to be placed' bets.

Horse Racing from outside the UK and Ireland

  1. In countries where bookmakers operate and an official starting price is returned, bets are accepted in accordance with our general rules and any additional rules, applicable to the country concerned.
  2. In countries where there is no starting price market in operation, bets are accepted at Pari-Mutuel (Tote) returns for the following:
    • 1. Win and Each-Way

The place part of each-way bets will be settled in accordance with the returned place dividends. Horses in the same ownership are generally coupled in the 'Win Pool' only. However, in some countries, (for example USA), horses are coupled in all pools and coupling may occur for reasons other than ownership. Where a coupled horse is a non-runner, win and each-way bets specifically nominating the non-runner will be made void.
    • 2. Place Only

Place only bets are accepted for singles. We do not accept doubles, trebles, etc. involving place only. In countries where additional place pools operate, place bets or the place part of each-way bets will be settled in accordance with the '123 Show Pool', unless the words 'Place 1-2' are indicated.
    • 3. Forecasts

Straight or dual forecasts are accepted depending on the type of forecast in operation, unless special rules are advertised, in which case bets will be settled only at Industry/Marathon special straight forecast odds. (On US racing only straight forecasts are accepted).
    • 4. Show Prices and Industry Starting Prices

Where SIS or an alternative external supplier provide betting shows and an Industry SP (based on bookmakers prices), ALL bets will be settled at these prices. In instances where no Industry SP is made available, bets will be settled at Pari-Mutuel returns.
    • 5. Unnamed Favourites

Unnamed Favourites, 2nd favourites etc are not accepted at Pari-Mutuel odds.

Ice Hockey

  1. All bets will be void on matches that are postponed and/or rescheduled for any reason for more than 30 hours after the original start time. If a match is played at a neutral venue and this information is not displayed then all bets will stand unless the venue of the home and away team is reversed. Should this occur then all bets on that match will be void.
  2. If a match is abandoned after play has started all bets are void, unless there has been at least 55 minutes of play, in which case bets will stand. If a winning market result had already been determined at the time of abandonment all bets on those markets will stand.
  3. Overtime and shootouts count in outright win only. The shootout winner is awarded one goal. All other markets are based on the result at the end of 60 minutes play (normal time).
  4. Period Betting: Bets must predict the result, handicap or total goals for the relevant period. This bet does not refer to who is leading the match at the end of the relevant period. Third period markets do not include overtime and shootouts.
  5. Player Points (Goals + Assists). Bets must predict the total number of points achieved by the named player at the end of 60 minutes play (normal time). The player must play in the game for more than one second for bets to stand.

Mixed Martial Arts MMA - UFC

  1. Should there be a withdrawal or a substitution for one of the fighters concerned, all bet on that fight will be void.
  2. In the event of a 'no contest' being declared, or a fight being abandoned for any reason before the completion of the contest, all bets will be made void unless otherwise stated or if the result of the market has already been determined.
  3. If a fight is postponed, rearranged or moved to an alternative venue bets will stand for 48 hours from the original date.
  4. Bets will be settled on the official result. Subsequent appeals/amendments do not affect settlement.
  5. Round Betting. If a fight is stopped between rounds, the fight will be deemed to have ended in the previous round.

Motor Racing

  1. In all race markets bets will be determined by the podium positions and any subsequent disqualifications will be ignored for betting purposes.
  2. Outright Team/Driver Championship Betting: All in compete or not. Bets will be determined by the number of points accumulated immediately following the podium presentation of the final race of the season and will not be affected by any subsequent enquiries.
  3. Individual Race/Meeting Betting: All in compete or not. The start of the race is defined as the signal to start the warm-up lap. Any driver on the grid at this time and failing to be classified as finished under governing body rules will be deemed to be a runner and a non-finisher.
  4. Match Betting (Driver vs. Driver): Both drivers must start for bets to stand. In the event of neither driver finishing, the number of laps completed will determine settlement, but if both drivers have completed the same number of full laps, bets will be void.
  5. Number of Finishers: The number of finishers will be as defined by the official result at the end of the race.
  6. Qualifying Prices. Bets will be settled according to the positions and times set during the final qualifying session. For the purposes of this bet, any subsequent adjustments of grid positions shall be disregarded. This also includes match bets or other Qualifying Specials.
  7. In the event of a race being abandoned or postponed and no official result is declared, all bets will be void unless the result has already been determined.
  8. All results for Formula One bets are governed by the FIA's classification at the time of the podium presentations.

Olympics

  1. Bets will be settled based on the podium position/presentation ceremony at the end of an event/tournament and will not be affected by any subsequent enquiries or disqualifications.
  2. If there is no podium or presentation ceremony then bets will be settled on the result declared by the governing body at the end of the event.
  3. Bets on the number of medals will be settled on the official medal standings at the Closing Ceremony.
  4. If an event is postponed, abandoned or rescheduled to another venue or day all bets will stand.
  5. Head to Head Betting (competitor or team): Both competitors or teams must start the event for bets to stand. If one competitor is forced to withdraw for any reason, their opponent will be considered the winner. If neither competitor completes the event then all bets on that match are void, unless specifically detailed otherwise.

Rugby League & Rugby Union

  1. All markets are based on the result at the end of 80 minutes play (normal time). The terms 'fulltime', '80 minutes play' and 'normal time' are all used to denote the period of play which includes injury time but not extra time.
  2. Postponed or Abandoned Matches: If a match is unplayed, postponed or abandoned before the completion of 80 minutes play, all bets will be void. This ruling applies to all markets with the exception of bets on 'First Tryscorer' or 'Time of First Try', where bets still stand provided the first try has been scored at the time of abandonment, or any other market where all outcomes have already been determined at the time of abandonment.
  3. Rearranged Matches: In the event of a change of venue not being known to us at the time a bet is accepted, bets will stand providing the venue is not switched to the opponents ground, in which case selections for that match will be made void. If a team plays a different opponent to the one which the odds applied to when a bet was struck, then bets on both selections will be void.
  4. Handicap Betting. For the purpose of deciding results the stated handicap is added to the total points scored by the team receiving the handicap start. If the handicap is a whole number then a price for a 'handicap draw' may be offered, and in that eventuality bets on either team will be losers. If no 'handicap draw' price is offered, and the result after taking the handicap into account is a draw, bets on either selection will be void.
  5. Half Time Betting: Half time betting is based on the 1st 40 minutes of play, including any injury time. In the event of a match being abandoned during the 1st half, our rules in section 2 of Rugby League and Rugby Union will apply. Matches abandoned after half time will not affect settlement of bets.
  6. First Tryscorer: Bets on players not taking part in the match will be void as will bets on the first tryscorer where the selection comes on after the first try is scored. Players that are substituted or sent off before the first try are losers. Penalty tries do not count. If the first try was scored by a player not quoted then all bets are losers that were placed on any other named player subject to the previous rules, unless an "any unquoted" selection is offered. A price will be quoted for No Tryscorer in all matches. If the match is abandoned before a try is scored all First Tryscorer bets will be void.
  7. Next Tryscorer: Bets predicting the next tryscorer will be available on selected matches whilst they are in progress. Penalty tries do not count. Bets will be void if the selection does not participate, comes on after the 'next' try has been scored or the match is abandoned before a try is scored.
  8. Winning Margins: Winning margin and correct score betting is from scratch.
  9. Divisional Betting: In divisional betting, the finishing position of teams at the end of the scheduled programme of matches will determine placing with no allowances for play-offs, subsequent enquiries or points deductions by the respective leagues.

Snooker

  1. Outright Betting: All in compete or not.
  2. Match Betting: In the event of a match being abandoned the player progressing to the next round will be deemed the winner providing at least one full frame has been completed. Should a player not start an individual match bets on that match will be void.
  3. Frame Betting, Handicap Betting and Special Betting: The full number of frames must be played for bets on these markets to stand. In matches where, for any reason, the match is awarded to a player before this is achieved, then all frame betting, handicap and special betting on that match will be void, unless the result of that market had already been determined.
  4. Highest Break Score/Player with Highest Break: In the event of a match being awarded to a player before the full number of frames required to win has been played, highest break specials will be void unless further play could not affect the result.

Speedway

  1. Outright Championship Betting: All in compete or not. Bets will be determined by the positions immediately following the final event of the competition and will not be altered by any subsequent enquiries.
  2. Individual Meeting Betting: In the event of a disqualification, the podium finish will count as the 'weigh-in' and this will determine bets. If a meeting is abandoned outright bets will only stand if an official result is announced, otherwise bets will be void.
  3. Winning Margins/Correct Score betting is from scratch. All 15 heats must be completed for winning margin/correct score bets to stand.
  4. Individual Heat Betting: If one or more of the four named riders do not go to the tapes all bets are void.
  5. Handicap bets will stand regardless of the number of heats that have taken place provided the winner of the handicap had already been established. If the winner of the handicap had not been established when a meeting is abandoned bets will be made void.

Table Tennis

  1. If a match is delayed or postponed for any reason then all bets will stand until the end of the match or the end of the tournament.
  2. If a player retires or is disqualified bets on the match result will stand as long as one set has been completed, otherwise these bets will be void. Bets on other markets will be void unless a definitive result for that market has already been determined. The player that progresses to the next round or is awarded the victory after the first set has been completed will be deemed the winner.

Tennis

  1. Tournament Outright Betting. Non-runner no-bet. If a player leaves a tournament for any reason (injury, retiring etc.) all bets that were made on that player before their last played round will stand. All other bets on that player made after this will be void.
The following examples are based on a 3 set match, relating to Match, Set and Total betting.
Example #1. The match Nadal vs Federer is abandoned with the score 1:0 (6:2, 0:3) because of Nadal retiring. All bets on Nadal (-2.5), Federer (+2.5), Over/Under 21.5, Set Betting 2-0, 2-1, 1-2 will be void. All bets on 1st Set, Match Result, Set Betting 0-2 will be settled as winners/losers respectively.
Example #2. The match Nadal vs Federer is abandoned with the score 1:1 (6:4, 0:6, 0:1) because of Nadal retiring. Bets on Federer (+3.5) will be settled as winners and bets on Nadal (-3.5) will be settled as losers, because your bet on Nadal (-3.5) could not win whatever the last set score was has the match reached its natural conclusion. Bets on Over/Under 21.5 in the match will be settled as winners/losers respectively, since any natural conclusion to the match would have resulted in at least 22 games being played. All bets on 1st Set, 2nd Set, Match Result, Set Betting 2-0, 0-2 will be settled as winners/losers respectively. Bets on Set Betting 2-1, 1-2 will be void.
Example #3. The match Nadal vs Federer is abandoned with the score 0:0 (4:4) because of Nadal retiring. Bets on Over/Under 9.5 in the 1st Set will be settled as winners/losers respectively, since any natural conclusion to the set would have resulted at least 10 games being played. All non-determined 1st set over/under games and other bets will be void.
  3. In the event of a change in the total number of sets played, match bets will stand so long as one set has been completed. All bets on Set Betting, Game Handicap and Total Games will be void. All other bets will also be void, unless a specific market result has already been determined; in which case all bets placed on those markets will stand.
  4. In the event of the following circumstances taking place, all bets will stand.
    1. A change of playing surface
    2. A change of venue
    3. A change from indoor court to outdoor court
  5. If a match is delayed or postponed for any reason then all bets will stand until the end of the match or the end of the tournament.
  6. If a super tie-break is used to decide the final set, this is counted as a set consisting of one game.

Volleyball

  1. If a match is postponed and rescheduled for any reason for more than 48 hours from the original start time then all bets will be void, unless a specific market result is already determined.
  2. If a match is changed from the venue advertised the bet will stand. This only applies as long as the venue has not been changed to the opponent's ground (or in the case of international matches, as long as the venue remains in the same country).

Winter Sports

  1. Bets will be settled based on the podium position/presentation ceremony at the end of an event/tournament and will not be affected by any subsequent enquiries or disqualifications.
  2. If there is no podium or presentation ceremony then bets will be settled on the result declared by the governing body at the end of the event.
  3. If an event is postponed, abandoned or rescheduled to another venue or day all bets will be void (unless the event is in an Olympic or World Championship competition in which case bets stand if an event is rearranged).
  4. Head to Head Betting (competitor or team): Both competitors or teams must start the event for bets to stand. If one competitor is forced to withdraw for any reason, their opponent will be considered the winner. If neither competitor completes the event then all bets on that match are void, unless specifically detailed otherwise.

Water Polo
