Live Basketball Betting

Basketball is one of the few sports where the course of a match can completely change in the space of three minutes. There are a huge number of nuances in this sport that can turn a match on its head. The odds for live basketball betting on Mbet update instantly as these changes happen, opening betting options you might not have considered before. Now’s the time to find out why basketball is one of the most exciting sports for live betting.

Marathonbet is now Mbet: what has changed?

As part of a major platform update, we have rebranded: Marathonbet has become Mbet. It now takes fewer steps to place a bet, too. But that’s only the tip of the iceberg. New technology and a modern design offer a completely different level of user interaction.

Mbet has also launched an updated website and mobile app with a redesigned interface and improved navigation. The new design makes the platform easier to use and helps it run more smoothly. Our website is now faster, more intuitive and user-friendly, while the navigation makes it easier to find the events and markets you need.

How do live basketball bets differ from pre-match bets?

In pre-match betting, it’s worth analysing the teams’ stats and form before the game starts. And you need to do this as thoroughly as possible. With live basketball, you need to take a different approach. You watch the game unfold in real time and place bets based on what’s happening at that moment.

Basketball is structured differently from football or ice hockey. A match is split into four quarters, and each one is a story in its own right. A team can lose the first quarter by a 12-point margin, then completely reorganise their defence and regain the initiative in the second quarter.

Live streams of basketball matches

For selected events on Mbet, a video stream is available directly on the match page. Watching the game live whilst simultaneously viewing the current odds and your bet slip can be very useful for in-play basketball betting. As the pace of the game is very fast, any hesitation could mean a missed opportunity. Access to video streams on Mbet is available to registered users only.

The advantages and disadvantages of live basketball betting

Live basketball is one of the most popular formats among experienced bettors, but it has its own specific characteristics. One of the main advantages is the ability to place bets with a clear understanding of how the match is unfolding. By watching the match, you can see the tempo of the attacks, the quality of the defence, and the players who are dominating or underperforming during a particular period. Speaking of periods, a basketball match is divided into four quarters, which means you can choose more specific markets, such as the winner of a particular quarter or the total points in that quarter.

But there are also factors you should keep in mind. Basketball is a very fast-paced sport, so the live odds can change instantly; any hesitation can mean a completely different price. And sometimes things happen that you just can’t predict. A three-pointer in the final seconds of a quarter is a common occurrence in the NBA—and it defies all logic of risk-averse play.

Live basketball requires a good understanding of the sport and the ability to read the game in segments—that’s when the live format really comes into its own.

Real-time basketball betting odds

Understanding the logic behind live odds helps you make informed decisions rather than betting at random. Let’s illustrate this with a specific example.

Imagine a hypothetical match between Oklahoma and the Lakers. The score after the first half is 54:41 in favour of the Thunder. The pre-match odds on Los Angeles to win were 2.10, but they’ve now risen to 3.80 because the gap looks significant. But in the NBA, teams often come back from deficits of more than 13 points, and Oklahoma regularly falters in the third quarter. That presents an opportunity to back the Lakers to win that quarter at attractive odds. If the prediction comes true, you can then start thinking about who will be the ultimate winner of the game. If the odds look tempting going into the final quarter, it may be worth placing another bet—this time on Oklahoma to win. This team is known for its fighting spirit and ability to put pressure on their opponents in the decisive stages of a game.

How often are live betting odds updated?

In basketball, odds are updated more frequently than in most other sports. The reason is the fast pace of the game. Points are scored every 10–15 seconds. During time outs, the betting odds will remain reasonably steady. At this moment, you can calmly assess the situation and place your bet.

FAQs

Can I place live bets on individual quarters?

Yes. At Mbet, you can place bets on the winner of each quarter and the total points for a specific quarter of the match as the game unfolds. It’s one of the most exciting formats for those who can analyse basketball by quarters.

Is it worth placing accumulator bets on live basketball?

An accumulator on live basketball games is a risky but exciting option. Several NBA matches are played simultaneously on any given evening, so you can combine outcomes from different games in a single betting slip. The key thing to remember is that one wrong prediction wipes out the entire accumulator.

Can a basketball match end in a draw?

In normal time—yes. However, it’s worth bearing in mind that the odds on the Match Winner market in Mbet’s line are quoted taking the entire game into account. A winner must be determined, so if the score is level at the end of normal time, the teams play overtime.
