Lima-based CD Municipal enjoyed their most successful period between 1938 and 1950, with a “Golden Generation” helping La Academia win four major trophies, spearheaded by their greatest ever player, the extremely talented Tito Drago.
In 1993 they won the “Campeonato Intermedio” with a squad that included Peruvian legend Nolberto Solano, who also graced the English Premier League during a long and distinguished career.
After a few short spells away from the top division, La Academia returned to contest the prestigious Copa Libertadores. They now regularly compete alongside the most successful teams in South America and finished 5th in the domestic league in 2018.
